The Beckhoff CX2040-0122 is a high-performance embedded PC designed for advanced industrial automation tasks. Powered by a 2.1 GHz Intel® Core™ i7 quad-core CPU, this DIN rail-mountable controller delivers excellent processing power for demanding PLC and motion control applications. The unit includes 4 GB DDR3 RAM (non-expandable), boots from a CFast flash card, and features a fan with ball bearings and speed monitoring to ensure thermal stability under continuous load.

The standard configuration offers 2 x Gigabit Ethernet, 4 x USB 2.0, and 1 x DVI-I interface, along with 128 kB NOVRAM for persistent data storage in case of power loss. Additional fieldbus or serial interfaces can be configured ex factory. With support for TwinCAT 2 and TwinCAT 3 runtime environments and operating systems including Windows Embedded Compact 7, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2016 LTSB, and TwinCAT/BSD, the CX2040-0122 offers exceptional flexibility and power.

Ideal for complex automation scenarios such as interpolated 3D path motion via TwinCAT NC I, the CX2040 supports up to four PCI Express® expansion modules and integrates seamlessly with both E-bus and K-bus terminals. The recommended successor for this model is the CX2043.
